Dealing with Third Parties: Applications and Appeals

Under India’s Right to Information Act (2005), third parties have certain rights to intervene when an application relates to information about them or which they have provides to public authorities. These parties include any person or body (including a public authority) who is neither (a) the person submitting the application/appeal nor (b) the authority processing the application. This Guidance Note clarifies the rights of these parties, who they are, when they must be consulted and the relevant procedures under the law.
